How To Bend Tubing For Hoop Earrings

Tubing can be bent into 1″ to 2″ diameter hoops by inserting wire through the tubing and wrapping it around a mandrel. The tubing wraps easier if it is annealed first (especially in the larger gauges). To prevent kinking, let the wire do the bending. The wire that is used for the arbor should be no more than 2/3 the inside diameter. A lubricant can be applied to the wire to make it easier to remove.

Example:

14L tubing with an inside diameter of .046″
.046″ x .666 = .030″ wire for insertion

Tubing can be bent without crimping the walls by inserting wire, wax or sand before bending.
